Here is a wonderful, all original IWC dress watch from 1968. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with a steel IWC block logo and the script logo underneath it. It has steel bar hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends, double at 12 o’clock. There is a scatter of tiny marks around the 6 o’clock hour marker, which are less visible to the naked eye than in close-up photos. The steel sword hands with the original lume are in good condition, with some corrosion visible upon close inspection. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to time-setting mode, to facilitate more accurate time setting.
The stainless steel watch face/bezel is in fine condition with only light overall wear, most notable around 5 and 10 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original fish crown and faceted heavy lugs is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear, perhaps most prominent a nick at the left case side. The case back is in very fine condition, with a brushed center and a polished rim.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, IWC’s superb 854 movement with the Pellaton winding system beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in March 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
