Here is a wonderful, all original IWC dress watch from 1962. The silver dial with script IWC logo is in fine condition, with faceted wedge hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There is a mark close to the dial center and a discolored spot around the edge of the dial at around 2 o’clock. The faceted dauphine hands are in fine condition, with only light wear. At 3 o’clock, the cyclops window in the original plexiglass crystal displays the date, which is manually set by turning the hands through the 24 hours.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most notably at around 1 and 4 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original fish crown and long, elegantly sloped lugs is in fine condition, with a polished face and brushed sides. It shows some overall wear, mostly at the lugs and in particular the lower right lug. The stainless steel case back has a brushed center and a polished rim and is in very fine condition with some overall wear.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, IWC’s high grade 8531 movement with the Pellaton winding system beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
