Here is a stunning, all original IWC dress watch from 1970 in an oversized version. The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with a steel IWC block logo and the script IWC logo below and barely any visible marks of wear or age. It has steel bar hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock, with the characteristic steel spheres for the minutes. The baton hands with the original black contrast are in very fine condition. The window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 23:45 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The brushed C shaped stainless steel case with the original fish crown is in very fine condition with just a few marks on the face and on the sides, perhaps most notable toward the upper lugs. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with some marks and scratches.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, IWC’s superb 8541B movement with the Pellaton winding system beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
