Here is a stunning, all original IWC dress watch from 1970 in an unusual reference. The brushed silver dial is in excellent condition, with a steel IWC block logo and the script IWC logo below and barely any visible marks of wear or age. It has steel bar hour markers with black contrast at the outer ends, double at 12 o’clock, with the characteristic steel spheres in between for the minutes. The baton hands with the original black contrast are in very fine condition. The window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 23:45 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The cushion shaped stainless steel case with embedded lugs and the original fish crown is in very fine condition, with light overall wear. It has a brushed face and polished sides showing some marks. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with a few marks and scratches.
The original integrated Milanese bracelet is in very fine condition, with only light wear also on the buckle clasp. It is large enough for big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details fits your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult.
Inside the watch, IWC’s superb 8541B movement with the Pellaton winding system beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
