Here is a fabulous, all original Omega Constellation Chronometer from 1966 in a large size for the era. The silver sunburst Pie Pan dial is in fine condition, with a steel Omega logo, emblem, and Constellation star. It has faceted steel bar hour markers with black onyx inlay, double at 12 o’clock. The Constellation star is slightly twisted and there is a corrosion spot just right of the word “Constellation”. There is also slight wear around the edge of the dial at around the 10 o’clock hour marker. The dauphine hands are in fine condition with some wear visible under close scrutiny. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 21:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most visible at around 6 o’clock. The stainless steel case with slightly spread lugs and the original embedded crown is in fine condition with some overall wear, in particular a couple of deeper marks on the left case side. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a well preserved steel Geneva observatory medallion and a few scratches and marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 561 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in January 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
