Here is a wonderful and rare, all original King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat Chronometer from 1972. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and KS logos and steel strip hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock. There is a small at the 2 o’clock hour marker and a few small marks at the edge of the dial at around 7 o’clock. The faceted baton hands are in fine condition, with the characteristic black contrast stripe down the middle. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set weekday and date. The quick-set should only be used with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most pronounced at around 4 and 9 o’clock. The brushed, angular 7000 series stainless case with integrated lugs and the original KS crown is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case back has a circular brushing and a KS logo engraving and is in very fine condition. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market steel Milanese bracelet and clasp of good quality.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5626B movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in January 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
