Here is a wonderful and rare, all original King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat Chronometer from 1973. The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with steel Seiko and KS logos and steel strip hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock. The black hands are in very fine condition. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set weekday and date. The quick-set should only be used with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
The stainless steel bezel is in good condition with some wear throughout, perhaps most notable at around 3-4 and 8-10 o’clock. The stainless case with the original KS crown and heavy, faceted lugs is in fine condition with light overall wear, mostly towards the lugs. The stainless steel case back has the KS engraving and is in fine condition with a few marks of wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5626B movement ticks away at the then very high frequency of 28800 beats per hour, beating strongly and accurately to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in January 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
