Here is a stunning, all original King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat from 1972 in a large size. The navy blue dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and KS logos and slanted steel hour markers, wider at 12 o’clock. There are a couple of tiny spots on the left half of the dial and some marks can be seen on some of the hour markers under magnification. The faceted tapered baton hands are in fine condition. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The quick-set should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most prominent at around 1, 5 and 9 o’clock. The angular 7000 series stainless case has integrated lugs and the original KS crown and is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most notable a scuff at the left case side. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved KS engraving and is in very fine condition. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The original bracelet is in very fine condition visually but shows some stretching. It is large enough for big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5625A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in January 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
