Here is a wonderful, all original 2nd generation King Seiko from 1965. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and the script KS logo below the dial center. It has faceted black polished steel hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There is a scatter of tiny marks around the center of the dial, none of which are very visible to the naked eye and there is slight discoloration below the date window and at the 6 and 8 o’clock hour markers. The faceted dauphine hands are in very fine condition. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The quick-set should only be used with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, probably most notable a small partial crack at around 10 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original crown and chunky, faceted lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most notable a nick at the inside of the bottom right lug. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold shield KS medallion and is in fine condition with just a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 4402A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
