Here is a wonderful and rare, all original Seiko Fly-back chronograph from 1971. The reverse one-eyed panda dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and faceted steel bar hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends, double at 12 o’clock. The minute counter is displayed at 6 o’clock, in a silver subdial with some wear around its edges. The baton hands are in fine condition with the original but degraded lume. The steel framed windows at 3 o’clock show the weekday, which can be quick-set by pushing the crown in, and the quick-set date. Using the quick-set functions should only be done with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
Note that this is a Fly-back chronograph, where the chronograph can be reset to zero and immediately start counting again. This function is used when the bottom pusher is pressed while the chronograph is running.
The stainless steel bezel is in good condition showing overall wear. The stainless steel case with faceted batman lugs and the original crown and pushers is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most notably a scratch at the upper left lug. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with some overall wear.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 7018A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in August 2022 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
This rare watch is a wonderful example of Seiko’s technical prowess, with the unusual and very cool fly-back function. It looks great on the wrist with its large size and beautiful dial and it is a great conversation starter.
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
