Here is a stunning, all original Lord Marvel LM5740 from 1967. The silver linen dial is in excellent condition, with a golden Seiko logo and black Arabic numeral hour markers. The tapered golden dauphine hands are in very fine condition, with central black contrast stripes.

The gold plated bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most notable a nick at around 5 o’clock. The gold plated case with the original crown and long, faceted lugs is in very fine condition with only light overall wear, mostly at the lugs. The stainless steel case back has a circular brushed finish and is in very fine condition with just a few small marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch the “grandfather of Seiko hi-beat movements”, the high grade 5740C, beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day at the then insane frequency of 36,000 bph. The watch was fully serviced in December 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The Lord Marvel was Seiko’s flagship series before the Grand Seiko. This is a wonderful watch to wear with its overall great condition, and it’s a great conversation starter with its history and background.
