Here is a stunning, all original Rado Starliner Daymaster from 1968 in a very large size for the era. The two tone dial is in excellent condition, the left half is black and the right half silver sunburst. It has the rotating anchor logo at 12 o’clock and raised circular hour markers with white and black contrast. The baton hands are in very fine condition, with the original white contrast. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the weekday and date. Note that the weekday is displayed with both the number and name of that day of the week, e.g. 1 Monday, 2 Tuesday etc. The date can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 20:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.

The stainless steel case with sharp, faceted lugs and the original crown is in fine condition with a few marks of wear on both case sides and also the lugs. The very large octagonal stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a well preserved seahorse medallion and only light wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original stainless steel bracelet is in very fine visual condition with little stretching. It is large enough for moderately big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, the Rado’s high grade caliber 1859 beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
