Here is a fabulous and rare, fully original Omega Seamaster Chronometer from 1969. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Omega logo and a gentle and even patina. It has faceted steel hour markers with black contrast, double markers at 12 o’clock. There is a scatter of tiny corrosion spots around the dial which are not really visible to the naked eye. The dauphine hands with the original black contrast are in fair condition, showing overall corrosion. The cyclops window at 3 o’clock in the original plexiglass crystal displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by repeatedly pulling the crown out to the outermost position. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.
The wide stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced around the top. The stainless steel case with the original crown and heavy lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced in a slightly thinner upper right lug. There are also some marks on both case sides. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition, with a well preserved hippocampus logo in its center and a few nicks and marks.
The watch comes on the original steel bead of rice bracelet. The bracelet is in fine visual condition showing a few marks, mostly on the double fold clasp, and it shows some stretching. It is big enough for large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.
Inside the watch, Omega’s perhaps best movement ever, the 564, beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in March 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
Chronometer versions of the Seamaster are rare, and this reference with the original bracelet is a real find. This is a watch that will fit into any vintage collection while also being a watch that can be worn as part of a regular rotation schedule.
