Here is a stunning and very rare all original Omega Constellation Chronometer from 1969. The two tone pie pan dial is in very fine condition, with a brushed champagne inner dial sporting a golden Omega logo, emblem and Constellation star, and a radially brushed champagne chapter ring. The chapter ring has golden faceted hour markers with lume dots at the inner ends, wider marker at 12 o’clock. The golden dauphine hands with the original lume are in fine condition with a few marks visible upon close scrutiny. The golden framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by repeatedly pulling the crown out to the outermost position. This should only be done with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
The solid 14K gold bezel is in very fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most pronounced at around 12 and 4 o’clock. The gold capped case with the original crown and embedded lugs is in very fine condition with only a few marks, perhaps most noticeable at the upper right lug. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold Geneva observatory medallion and is in very fine condition with a few nicks and marks. Note that this reference has a one-piece (monocoque) case, which is rarely seen in the Constellation series. The case does not seem to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market gold plated stainless steel bracelet of good quality. It is big enough for large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.
Inside the watch, perhaps the best watch movement ever made, Omega’s caliber 564, beats strongly and accurately to within about +8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
