Here is a fabulous and rare all original 1969 Omega Seamaster Chronometer in an oversized version. The golden sparkle dial is in excellent condition, with a steel Omega logo and emblem and barely any marks. It has golden railroad style hour markers with black contrast and lume dots at the outer ends, wider markers at the poles. The baton hands are in fine condition with the original black contrast and lume. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock shows the weekday and the date. The date can be quick-set by repeatedly pulling the crown out to the outer position. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The gold capped bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, most notable at around 9 to 10 o’clock. The gold capped case with the original crown and heavy lugs is in fine condition, with a brushed face and sides and a polished facet. It shows some overall wear, mostly at the case sides. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a well preserved hippocampus logo in its center and just a few small marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 751 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in September 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

Chronometer versions of the Seamaster are rare by themselves, and a gold capped one is even rarer. The fabulous sparkle dial, large size and great condition makes this a watch for both today and the next generation.
