Here is a fabulous, all original Omega Seamaster from 1968. The crosshair silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Omega logo and black lettering. It has wide steel hour markers with black contrast at the poles and faceted gable shaped hour markers in between. There is a scatter of tiny corrosion spots around the dial, most noticeable at the upper half of the dial. The baton hands with the original black contrast are in fine condition with the original black contrast intact. The original plexiglass crystal has a cyclops eye at 3 o’clock, where the date is displayed. The date can be quick-set by repeatedly pulling the crown out to the outermost position. This should only be done with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, most notably at about 3 and 6-8 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original crown and batman lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear both at the lugs and on the sides, in particular on the left case side. The stainless steel case back with a crisp and clean hippocampus medallion at its center is in good condition, with a scatter of small wear marks and a notable scratch.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 565 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in October 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
This Seamaster is dressier than most of its siblings, and the wonderful dial makes it really stand out. It is a wonderful watch to have grace your wrist and it will be a watch to pass on to the next generation.
