Here is an extraordinary, all original Omega Constellation Chronometer from 1965 in a very large size for the era. The brushed silver dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Omega logo, emblem, and Constellation star. It has faceted steel hour markers with black onyx inlay, double at 12 o’clock. There are a few tiny corrosion spots scattered around the dial, none of which are really visible to the naked eye. The dauphine hands with the original black contrast are in fine condition with some marks visible upon scrutiny. The window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 21:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear and a couple of more noticeable marks around the crown. The jumbo-sized stainless steel case with the original crown and lovely teardrop lugs is in fine condition with light overall wear, most pronounced at the lugs, also on the outside of the upper lugs. The stainless steel case back has a slightly worn gold Geneva observatory medallion and is in fine condition with some overall wear. It carries an inscription showing that the watch was originally presented as an award or gift.
The watch comes on the original steel bead of rice bracelet. The bracelet is in fine visual condition with a few marks and some stretching. There are also some marks and wear on the double fold clasp. It is large enough for big wrists.
Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 561 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
