Here is a wonderful, all original King Seiko 44KS Chronometer from 1965. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and faceted steel bar hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There are a few small marks around the center of the dial and around some of the hour markers, most notable at around 1, 4-6 and 10 o’clock. The faceted dauphine hands are in fine condition with a few marks visible under magnification. The seconds hand has a fine arrow end. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to set the time.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most prominent at around 1 and 10 o’clock. The stainless case with the original KS crown and long, heavy lugs is in fine condition with a few marks throughout, mostly at the lugs. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold Lion medallion and is in fine condition with a few marks, in particular a couple of longer scratches. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 4420A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The KS and its “big brother” the Grand Seiko were made to show the world the prowess of Japanese watchmaking. Even though all King Seikos are excellent watches, the added Chronometer moniker makes this 44KS really stand out.
