Here is a gorgeous, all original IWC automatic from 1969 in an oversized version. The blue sunburst dial is in very fine condition with a steel IWC block logo and the script logo underneath. It has faceted steel hour markers with black contrast, double markers at 12 o’clock, and the characteristic steel spheres for the minutes in between. There are a few tiny marks around the dial where the base color shows through, the largest of these just below the word “Schaffhausen”. The sword hands have the original black contrast and are in very fine condition. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to set the time to allow for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 23:45 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The stainless steel “bezel” is in fine condition, continuing the sunburst pattern of the dial and showing light overall wear such. The squarish stainless steel case with the original fish crown and embedded lugs is in very fine condition with light overall wear, mostly towards the lugs. The stainless steel case back has a brushed central pattern and is in very fine condition with light overall wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The original Milanese steel bracelet is in very fine condition and looks fabulous with the watch. It is large enough for big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist.
Inside the watch, IWC’s high grade 854B movement with the Pellaton winding system beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in July 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
