Here is a wonderful and rare, all original Seiko Sportsmatic SilverWave diver watch from 1963. The silver sunburst dial is in good condition, with faceted steel bar hour markers with lume dots at the inner ends, double marker at 12 o’clock. There is some wear around a few of the lume dots and in particular around the dial center. The silver inner bezel has a large lume triangle at 12 o’clock and can be rotated by turning the crown. It shows some overall wear in particular along the top. Note that this model cannot be handwound with the crown. The large dauphine hands are in good condition with the original lume intact although degraded.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. The large stainless case with the original crown at 4 o’clock and batman lugs is in very fine condition with only light overall wear, perhaps most notable a nick at the left case side. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with some overall wear. The tsunami etching is very well preserved, which is very rare to find.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 603 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in September 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The SilverWave was Seiko’s first divers watch, preceding the professional diver 62MAS, and this version with the vintage feel looks great on the wrist. This is an excellent conversation starter and a wonderful addition to any vintage collection.
