Here is a wonderful and rare, all original Seiko Sportsmatic SilverWave from 1964. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, showing some wear marks throughout. Note that these look much more pronounced in up close photos than to the naked eye. It has black lettering and steel railroad style hour markers with lume squares at the inner ends, double marker at 12 o’clock. The black inner bezel has white letters and a large lume triangle at 12 o’clock. It can be rotated by turning the crown. Note that this model cannot be wound with the crown, only by the automatic mechanism. The dauphine hands are in fine condition with the original lume intact albeit degraded.
The stainless steel bezel is in good condition with some wear in the form of scratches and nicks throughout. The large stainless case with the original crown at 4 o’clock and long, faceted lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear both at the lugs and on the case sides, perhaps most pronounced at the outside of the upper lugs. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with light overall wear. The tsunami etching is well preserved, which is quite rare. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 2451 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in March 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
This model was Seiko’s first divers watch, preceding the professional diver 62MAS. It is a rare and lovely watch with its large size and great condition and it is a perfect daily driver.
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
