Here is a wonderful, all original Lord Marvel LM5740 from 1974. The silver linen dial is in excellent condition, with a golden Seiko logo and applied black Roman numeral hour markers. The faceted golden dauphine hands are in very fine condition, with central black contrast stripes.
The gold plated bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, most notable at around 11 o’clock. The gold plated with the original crown and long, faceted lugs is in fine condition, with a scatter of small marks both at the lugs and on the sides. The radially brushed stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with just a few small marks.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch the “grandfather of Seiko hi-beat movements”, the high grade 5740C, beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day at the then insane frequency of 36,000 bph. The watch was fully serviced in June 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
The Lord Marvel was Seiko’s flagship series before the Grand Seiko. This is a wonderful watch to wear with its overall great condition, and it’s a great conversation starter with its history and background.
