Here is a fabulous, all original Grand Seiko GS56 Hi-Beat from 1971. The charcoal linen dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and steel strip hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There is a mark to the left of the 6 o’clock hour marker and a few small marks around the dial, mostly on the left half. Some corrosion can be seen on some of the hour markers under magnification, most notably at 12 o’clock. The faceted dauphine hands are in very fine condition. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock shows the date, which can be quick-set with the crown pulled out to the middle position. This should only be done with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some wear throughout, perhaps most prominent at around 7 o’clock. The angular cushion shaped stainless steel case of the 8000 series has integrated lugs and the original GS crown and is in fine condition. It shows a few marks both at the brushed face and the polished, sloped sides, perhaps most prominent towards the upper right lug. The polished case back has a slightly worn gold GS medallion and is in fine condition, with a few scratches and marks throughout. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The original brick wall pattern stainless steel bracelet with the GS logo on the clasp is in fine visual condition with some marks of wear both on the links and on the clasp. It is big enough for moderately large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.
