Here is a fabulous, all original Seiko Bell-matic from 1967. The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with a steel Seiko logo and railroad style hour markers with black contrast, double markers at 12 o’clock. The faceted dauphine hands have the original black contrast and are in very fine condition apart from a small mark on the minute hand. The inner bezel can be rotated to set the alarm time and has a red marker with yellow lume to indicate the set time. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the weekday and date.  The weekday can be semi-quick set by by changing 22:30-1:00h The date can be quick-set by pressing the button at 2 o’clock repeatedly. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The watch is automatic winding only and cannot be manually wound. The alarm is wound when both the crown and the push button at 2 o’clock are fully pressed in. To set the alarm, pull the crown out to the first step and turn the crown. The alarm time can only be set in reverse. The alarm is enabled by pulling the 2 o’clock push button out and disabled by pressing the push button back in.

The wide stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most prominent at around 6 and 12 o’clock. The large and chunky stainless case with the original crown and heavy, faceted lugs is in very fine condition with light overall wear both on the sides and towards the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with a few marks of wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 4006A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in May 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

Alarm watches are very fun and the chiming alarm of the bell-matic sets it apart from most other alarm watches from that ear. It is a fun watch to wear and seeing the expression on people’s faces when the alarm goes off is priceless!
