Here is a fabulous, all original Seiko Bell-matic from 1968. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and black lettering. It has railroad track steel hour markers with black contrast stripes, wider marker at 12 o’clock. There is a small mark at the 4 o’clock hour marker. The dauphine hands have the characteristic central black contrast stripes and are in very fine condition. The inner bezel has a black triangle to indicate the alarm time and can be rotated to set the alarm time. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The date can be quick-set by pressing the button at 2 o’clock repeatedly. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial. Some of the dates show slight discoloration.
The watch is automatic only and cannot be manually wound. The alarm is wound when both the crown and the push button at 2 o’clock are fully pressed in. To set the alarm, pull the crown out to the first step and turn the crown. The alarm time can only be set in reverse. The alarm is enabled by pulling the 2 o’clock push button out.
The wide stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with only light overall wear, perhaps most notable at around 2 o’clock. The large and chunky stainless case with the original crown and heavy, faceted lugs has a sunburst face and polished sides. It is in very fine condition with only light overall wear both on the sides and towards the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition with a few marks of wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 4005A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
Alarm watches are very fun and the chiming alarm of the bell-matic sets it apart from most other alarm watches from that ear. It is a fun watch to wear and seeing the expression on people’s faces when the alarm goes off is priceless!
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
