Here is a fabulous, all original Seiko JDM UFO Chronograph from 1971. The black dial is in very fine condition, with a white Seiko 5 logo and orange highlights. It has lume strip hour markers and white stripes for the minutes and sub-seconds. There are two sunken subdials for the chronograph hour and minute counters at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively. A few marks from careless removal of the hands can be seen under close scrutiny. The black baton hands have the original lume and are in fine condition with light wear showing upon close inspection. The center chronograph seconds hand is bright red. The window at 3 o’clock displays the weekday and date, both of which can be quick-set. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel with a black bakelite insert contains a black and red tachymeter scale and is in fine condition with some overall wear, most notably a dent at the 85 mark and a nick just left of the 60 mark. The massive, brushed stainless steel case with the original crown and pushers and integrated lugs is in fine condition with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with the Seiko and Suwa logos and a couple of marks of wear.

The original Seiko bracelet is in very fine optical condition and shows light stretching. It has an extension piece making it big enough for large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade caliber 6138A beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in October 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
