Here is a wonderful and rare, all original Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date from 1973. The silver sunburst Sigma dial – meaning that the dial details are solid white gold – is in very fine condition, with the Rolex crown at 12 o’clock white gold hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends. There are a few tiny corrosion spots around the dial which aren’t really visible to the naked eye as well as a discolored spot close to the 9 o’clock hour marker. The baton hands with the original lume are in very fine condition.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced at 2, 5, 7 and 11 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original screw down crown is in fine condition with some overall wear both at the face and the sides. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a number of small marks and scratches. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original Oyster bracelet is in very fine condition, showing some stretching and light wear. It is big enough for moderately large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Rolex’ high grade 1570 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in September 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The wonderful Sigma dial on this watch makes it very attractive, and together with the original bracelet this is a great watch to wear and admire on your wrist. This is a watch that will add to any collection and it will make its next owner very happy indeed.
