Here is a fabulous, all original Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date from 1988. The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with the Rolex crown at 12 o’clock and barely any marks. It has multifaceted steel hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends. The faceted baton hands with the original lume are in very fine condition. The hack stops the watch when the crown is pulled out so the time can be set accurately. The 3 o’clock window with the cyclops eye displays the quick-set date, which should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most prominent at around 6 o’clock. The stainless steel case has a radially brushed face and polished sides, with the original screw-down crown working as it should. It is in fine condition, with some overall wear, mostly on the sides but also a couple of marks on the face of the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a few marks or wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original stainless steel Oyster bracelet is in fine condition with little stretching and a few marks, mostly on the double fold clasp. It is large enough for moderately big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Rolex’s high grade 3035 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in February 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
