Here is a fabulous, all original Rolex Datejust Thunderbird from 1971. The silver sunburst Sigma dial (meaning dial details and hands are made from solid gold) is in minty condition, with a white gold Rolex crown at 12 o’clock and barely any marks. It has faceted white gold hour markers with black contrast and lume dots at the outer ends. The faceted white gold baton hands with are in very fine condition, with the original lume intact albeit degraded. The hack feature stops the watch when the crown is pulled out so the time can be set accurately. The 3 o’clock window with the cyclops eye displays the quick-set date, which should only be used with the hands at the bottom of the dial.

The 18K white gold Thunderbird bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most prominent at around 3 and 5 o’clock. The stainless steel case has a radially brushed face and polished sides, with the original gold screw-down crown working as it should. It is in fine condition with some overall wear both at the case sides and towards the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original steel Jubilee bracelet is in fine visual condition with some stretching. It is large enough for moderately big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Rolex’s high grade 3035 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in March 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
