Here is a stunning, all original Rado Starliner 999 from 1969 in a very large size for the era. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with the rotating Rado anchor logo at 12 o’clock and raised block hour markers with black contrast, larger markers at the poles. There is an equator line going from 3 to 9 o’clock. Under magnification, slight wear can be seen at the edge of the dial at around 9 o’clock. The baton hands are in very fine condition, with the original black contrast intact. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 20:30 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, such as at around 2, 8 and 10-11 o’clock. The stainless steel case with beautifully curved lugs and the original crown is in fine condition with light overall wear, mostly at the lugs. The octagonal stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a well preserved seahorse medallion and only light wear. The case does not ever appear to have been polished.

The original Rado stainless steel bead of rice bracelet is in very fine condition, with light wear and little stretching. It is big enough for moderately large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. An after market bracelet extension can be added if needed.

Inside the watch, the Rado’s version of the high grade caliber AS 1789 beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in June 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
