Here is a fabulous and rare, all original Rado Captain Cook from 1967. The black dial is in very fine condition, with the Rado pivoting anchor logo and steel emblem and just a few marks of wear. It has chunky steel hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends, at 12 o’clock only a lume square above the logo. The inner rotating bezel in red and white is in fine condition with a few aging marks. The wide baton hands are in fine condition with the original lume intact but degraded, the seconds hand with the characteristic lume filled square towards its tip. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 20:30 and then forward through midnight again until the date changes. Repeat as necessary.
The heavy stainless steel case with embedded lugs and the original crowns is in fine condition, showing a few marks and nicks throughout. This watch has an unusual combination of crowns, with the 3 o’clock crown only operating the inner bezel and the smaller crown at 4 o’clock winding the watch and setting the time. Note that the 3 o’clock crown should NOT be pulled out! The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a well preserved steel medallion at its center and a few marks of wear throughout.
The watch comes on an after market steel bracelet of good quality.
Inside the watch, the high grade AS 1789 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in August 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
The Captain Cook is probably Rado’s most iconic model, introducing their very cool pivoting anchor logo and only produced for a few years. The model was re-introduced just a few years ago but this is the original.
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
NB! Note that we are based in Switzerland and that the buyer is responsible for any import fees their country may impose on a purchase from abroad. Ask us if you have any questions.
