Here is a fabulous and rare, fully original Omega Speedmaster Automatic Reduced “Marui” from 1998. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with black lettering and golden bar hour markers with black contrast. The markers at the poles do not have lume while the ones in between have lume dots at the outer ends. The 3 o’clock subdial shows the running seconds, the 6 o’clock subdial shows the chronograph hour counter and the 9 o’clock subdial shows the chronograph minute counter. There is a small mark on the dial between the 6 and 9 o’clock subdials. The golden baton hands have the original lume and are in fine condition with a few marks.

The 18K solid gold tachymeter bezel with a black inlay and golden numerals is in fine condition with some overall wear, such as at around the 180, 100 marks. The stainless steel case with the famous Speedmaster bombe lugs and the original golden crown and pushers is in fine condition, with light pitting at the inside of the twisted lugs and underneath the bezel. The stainless steel case back has an Omega engraving and a few marks of wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original steel bracelet with gold details is in very fine visual condition and with little stretching. It is large enough for big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 1140 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in June 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The “Marui” versions of the Speedmaster Reduced were made for the Japanese department store chain Marui and feature distinct dial and hand combinations and different case backs from other Reduced’s. The wonderful condition of this watch and the rarity of the design makes it a real find.
