Here is a fabulous and rare all original 1968 Omega Seamaster Chronometer in an oversized version. The silver sparkle dial is in excellent condition, with a steel Omega logo and emblem and barely any marks. It has faceted steel hour markers with black contrast and lume dots at the outer ends, wider markers at the poles. The baton hands are in fine condition with the original black contrast and lume intact. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock shows the weekday and the date. The date can be quick-set by repeatedly pulling the crown out to the outer position. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with only light overall wear, perhaps most notable at around 6 and 12 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original crown and heavy lugs is in fine condition, with a brushed face and sides and a polished facet. It shows light overall wear, most notably at the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a well preserved hippocampus logo in its center and a few small marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original Omega bracelet is in fine visual condition, showing some stretching and a few marks, in particular on the double fold clasp and on the middle links. It is large enough for moderately big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 751 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in February 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

Chronometer versions of the Seamaster are rare by themselves, and the fabulous sparkle dial, large size and original bracelet makes this a watch for both today and the next generation.
