Here is a wonderful, all original Omega Genève from 1971. The silver sunburst dial has taken on a gentle and even patina and is in fine condition, with a black script Omega logo and lettering. It has faceted steel hour markers with black contrast and lume dots at the outer ends, double markers at 12 o’clock. There are a few small marks around the center of the dial and towards the 7 o’clock hour marker and the 11 and 12 minute markers are worn. The baton hands have the original black contrast and lume intact and are in fine condition with some degradation to the lume and some corrosion on the seconds hand. The black framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by repeatedly pulling the crown out to outermost position. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel case with the original crown and stub lugs is in fine condition, with a sunburst face and polished sides. It shows light wear on the face and also on the sides. The stainless steel back has a brushed center and is in fine condition with some overall wear. It carries the inscription “Waterproof”, which should not be relied upon for a watch of this age. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original steel bracelet is in very fine visual condition with a few marks and slight stretching. It is large enough for big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist, as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 565 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The Genève was in many ways an “entry level” Omega, but they still came with the best movement Omega had and wonderfully finished dials and cases. This a watch loves to be worn and it will serve you well for many years to come.
