Here is a fabulous, all original Omega De Ville from 1972 in a rare, oversized reference. The brushed silver dial is in very fine condition, with a black script Omega logo and faceted steel strip hour markers with black contrast and lume dots at the outer ends. There is a scatter of tiny corrosion spots around the dial, none of which are visible to the naked eye, and some of the lume dots are degraded. The baton hands are in very fine condition with the original black contrast and lume intact. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be quick-set with the crown pulled out into the middle position.

The stainless steel case is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most notable a few marks along the edge of the face at around 10 o’clock. The circular brushed stainless steel case back has a crisp and clean De Ville medallion and is in fine condition with a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original stainless steel bead of rice bracelet is in fine visual condition with slight stretching and overall wear, most noticeable at the double fold clasp. It is big enough for moderately large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 1012 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in October 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The De Ville offers a long history of dressier watches, and this oversized version is not only quite rare, it also looks fantastic on the wrist. This is a watch that is good enough as a daily driver while also having that classic and timeless design that makes it great for those special occasions.
