Here is a fabulous, all original Omega Constellation Chronometer from 1966 in a large size for the era. The silver sunburst crosshair dial is in very fine condition with a golden Omega logo, emblem, and Constellation star. It has faceted golden bar hour markers, double markers at 12 o’clock. There is a scatter of tiny marks around the dial, none of which are visible to the naked eye but make the dial seem to gently sparkle. The golden dauphine hands are in very fine condition. The golden framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 21:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.

The solid 14K yellow gold bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced at around 6 o’clock. The gold capped case with sharply beveled angular lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, most notably at the face of the lugs, in particular the upper lugs, but also on the sides of the case. The original crown is partially embedded in the case, making it a bit less convenient to wind by hand, but when the watch is worn regularly the automatic winding takes care of that. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a crisp and clean gold Geneva observatory medallion and a few scratches and marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather of good quality with the original Omega buckle in fine condition.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 561 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in July 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.  

The Constellation is one of the most iconic vintage watches, and this oversized version with the hidden crown is a much beloved version. This is a watch that looks fantastic on the wrist and it will make its next owner a happy person for many years to come.
