Here is a fabulous and rare, all original King Seiko KS Chronometer from 1970. The silver sunburst dial has steel Seiko and KS logos and steel bar hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock. It is in excellent condition apart from slight wear along the edge of the dial at around 7 o’clock. The tapered baton hands are in very fine condition, with the characteristic central black contrast stripe. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to set the time, so the time can be set more accurately.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most prominent at around 2, 7 and 11 o’clock. The large and angular 8010 stainless case with the original KS crown is in fine condition, with beveled lugs and sides. It shows some overall wear, perhaps most notable on the upper right side of the face. The case back has a well preserved gold KS medallion and is in fine condition with some overall wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 4500A movement ticks away at the then insane frequency of 36000 beats per hour, beating strongly and accurately to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The KS and its “big brother” the Grand Seiko were made to show the world the prowess of Japanese watchmaking. They remain some of the most iconic and collectible vintage watches with an outstanding design and engineering quality. This 44KS with its classic design is a great example of that and it is a fine watch for any occasion.
