Here is a fabulous, all original King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat Chronometer from 1972. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and KS logos. It has railroad style steel bar hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock, and a painted minute track in between. There is a tiny mark between the 7 and 8 o’clock hour markers. The tapered hands with black central contrast are in very fine condition. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. This function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most pronounced at around 3 and 7 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original KS crown and heavy lugs is in fine condition, with faceted lugs and sides, showing some overall wear on both the case sides and at the lugs, perhaps most pronounced at the upper left lug. The stainless steel case back has a crisp and clean gold KS Chronometer medallion and is in very fine condition, with a few scratches and marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap of good quality with the original Seiko buckle in fine condition.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5625A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The KS and its “big brother” the Grand Seiko were made to show the world the prowess of Japanese watchmaking. They remain some of the most iconic and collectible vintage watches with an outstanding design and engineering quality. This 56KS Hi-Beat Chronometer is a great example of that and it is a fine watch for any occasion.
