Here is an awesome and rare, all original King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat from 1970. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, with steel Seiko and KS logos and steel strip hour markers with black contrast, double markers at 12 o’clock. There is a long mark at around 11 o’clock and a few marks around the edge of the dial at around 2-3 o’clock. The tapered dauphine hands with the characteristic black contrast stripes are in fine condition. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date and weekdays in English and Kanji. Saturday and Sunday is in blue and red color while the rest of the week is in black. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. The chunky stainless steel case with the original KS crown and embedded lugs is in very fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most prominent at the left case side. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold KS medallion and is in very fine condition with a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original KS bracelet is in very fine condition with light overall wear. It is big enough for medium sized wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5626A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The KS and its “big brother” the Grand Seiko were made to show the world the prowess of Japanese watchmaking. They remain some of the most iconic and collectible vintage watches with an outstanding design and engineering quality. This very cool 56KS Hi-Beat is a fine example of that and it is a great conversation starter.
