Here is a wonderful, all original King Seiko 44KS from 1967. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and faceted steel bar hour markers, milled double markers at 12 o’clock. There is some discoloration around the edge of the dial that looks much less prominent to the naked eye than in up close photos. There is also a couple of small marks around the center of the dial and at the 5 o’clock hour marker. The faceted dauphine hands are in fine condition with a few marks on the minute hand in particular. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to set the time.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most notably at around 12 o’clock. The stainless case with the original KS crown and long, heavy lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, mostly towards the lugs and in particular the upper right lug. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold Seiko medallion and is in fine condition, with some overall wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 44A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The 44KS is perhaps the epitome of the “Grammar of Design” as formulated by Taro Tanaka, aiming to have Seiko watches literally outshine their competitors on the store shelves with flat surfaces and multiple facets beautifully reflecting the light. This is a watch that looks great on the wrist while carrying a lot of history with it.
