Here is a stunning, all original LeCoultre Memovox from 1970 in a very large size for the era. The outer silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with the JLC logo at 12 o’clock, the emblem at 9 o’clock and steel hour markers with black contrast in between. The inner edge has lume stripes for the hours and white stripes for the minutes. The inner silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with a black triangle showing the alarm position. It rotates to accurately set the alarm. The wide baton hands are in fine condition with the original black contrast and lume intact albeit degraded, the seconds hand painted black. The window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 22:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The alarm is set with the top crown. Winding the spring for the alarm is done by rotating the crown while fully depressed. By pulling the crown out one can rotate the inner dial to set the arrow at the desired alarm time. When the set time is reached the alarm buzzes loudly for about 15-20 seconds when fully wound. When the crown is in the outer position the alarm does not ring.
The stainless steel bezel/watch face is in overall very fine condition, with one notable mark at around 11 o’clock. The large stainless steel case with large hook lugs and the original crowns is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a few marks of wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap of good quality with the original JLC buckle in fine condition.
Inside the watch, LeCoultre’s fabulous 916 automatic movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
The Memovox is a much sought after and highly collectible line of watches and this large version really stands out on the wrist. This is a watch that will add to any vintage collection and it’s a great conversation starter.
