Here is a fabulous, all original LeCoultre Memovox HPG (High Precision Guaranteed) from 1970 in a very large size for the era. The silver dial is in very fine condition. The radially brushed chapter ring has very 70’s “spaceship” hour markers at the poles and faceted steel bar hour markers with black contrast in between. On the inner edge of the chapter ring is a black striped minute track. The inner dial has black script LeCoultre, Memovox and HPG logos and a lume filled triangle indicating the set alarm time. The inner dial rotates when the upper crown is pulled out for setting the alarm. The wide baton hands are in fine condition with the original lume intact albeit degraded. The black framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by repeatedly turning the hands through midnight, then backwards through 22:00 and then through midnight again.
The alarm is set with the top crown. Winding the spring for the alarm is done by rotating the crown while fully depressed. By pulling the crown out one can rotate the inner dial to set the arrow at the desired alarm time. When the set time is reached the alarm buzzes loudly for about 15-20 seconds when fully wound. When the crown is in the outer position the alarm does not ring.
The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with some overall wear. The very large for the era elliptical stainless steel case is in fine condition, with hidden lugs and the original crowns. It shows some wear throughout, both on the face and the sides. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a few scratches and marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on an after market stainless steel bracelet of good quality.
Inside the watch, LeCoultre’s exquisite 916 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +12 seconds per day at the at the time very high rate of 28800 bph, which is why the model got the name HPG. The watch was fully serviced in October 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
The Memovox is one of the most iconic watches in history, and this HPG version looks great on the wrist with its very large size and cool 70’s vibe. This is a watch that goes well with both formal and more casual wear and it’s a watch that is not only a great collector’s watch, it’s also an investment that will grow in value over the years.
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
