Here is a fabulous, all original Grand Seiko GS56 Hi-Beat from 1972. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and barely any marks. It has black strip hour markers, double markers at 12 o’clock. The tapered baton hands are in very fine condition, the characteristic seconds hand for this version without a center hole. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock shows the quick-set date and weekday in Kanji and English. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with just a few marks of wear. The angular pillow stainless steel case with integrated lugs and the original GS crown is in fine condition, with a brushed face and polished, sloped sides. It shows a few marks of wear, mostly towards the upper lugs but also with some marks on the sides. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a well preserved gold GS medallion and some wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original stainless steel bracelet is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. It is large enough for big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5646A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in October 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
