Here is a gorgeous, all original Grand Seiko GS56 Hi-Beat from 1972. The charcoal linen dial is in fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and strip steel hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There is a scatter of tiny corrosion spots around the dial, giving it a mottled look. The faceted dauphine hands are in very fine condition, the characteristic seconds hand without a central hole. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date and weekday in Kanji and English. The day Saturday is in blue, Sunday in Red and the other days in black. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition, with only very light overall wear. The large and angular stainless steel case with the original GS crown and embedded lugs is in excellent condition, with sharp angles between the brushed face and the polished sides. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold GS medallion and is in excellent condition. The case has been refinished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap of good quality with the original Seiko buckle in fine condition.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 5646A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in April 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
