Here is a stunning, all original Breitling Navitimer from 1968 in a very large size. The inverted panda dial is in very fine condition, with three white subdials and only a few marks of wear. It has a large lume Arabic numeral hour marker at 12 and lume stripes for the other hour markers and white lettering including the twin planes  logo. There is a multitude of scales around the edge of the dial, including a slide rule, tachymeter, minute to hour conversion and a solar compass function. The subdial at 3 o’clock shows the chronograph minute counter, the 6 o’clock subdial shows the chronograph hour counter and the 9 o’clock subdial shows the running seconds.  The white baton hands with the original lume are in very fine condition. The orange central seconds hand shows the chronograph seconds when activated.

The black scalloped bezel rotates freely in both directions and can be used for various calculations in conjunction with the dial scales. It is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The very large and angular stainless steel case with the original crown and pushers and short lugs is in very fine condition, with some wear visible towards the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a few marks. 

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, the high grade Venus 178 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The Navitimer is Breitling’s best known model, with its utilitarian but somewhat crowded dial and large size. This model is a great conversation starter and with its fabulous condition it will add to any vintage collection.
