Here is a stunning, all original Breitling Navitimer from 1971. The inverted panda dial is in very fine condition, with three silver subdials and barely any marks. It has a large lume Arabic numeral hour marker at 12 and lume stripes for the other hour markers with white lettering, including the twin planes logo. There is a multitude of scales around the edge of the dial, including a slide rule, tachymeter, minute to hour conversion and a solar compass function. The subdial at 3 o’clock shows the chronograph minute counter, the 6 o’clock subdial shows the chronograph hour counter and the 9 o’clock subdial shows the running seconds. The white baton hands with the original lume are in very fine condition. The central seconds hand with a lume tip shows the chronograph seconds when activated.

The scalloped steel bezel rotates freely in both directions and can be used for various calculations in conjunction with the dial scales. It is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The large stainless steel case with the original crown and pushers and long, faceted lugs is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, the high grade Venus 178 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The Navitimer is Breitling’s best known model, with its utilitarian but somewhat crowded dial and large size. This model is a great conversation starter and with its fabulous condition it will add to any vintage collection.
