Here is a stunning, all original Lord Marvel LM5740 from 1967. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with a steel Seiko logo and black Arabic numeral hour markers. There is a discoloration spot close to the 8 o’clock hour marker. The faceted dauphine hands are in very fine condition, with central black contrast stripes.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most notable at around 12 o’clock. The stainless case with the original crown and long, faceted lugs is in very fine condition, with a few marks both at the lugs and on the case sides. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition with a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch the “grandfather of Seiko hi-beat movements”, the high grade 5740C, beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day at the then insane frequency of 36,000 bph. The watch was fully serviced in March 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

The Lord Marvel was Seiko’s flagship series before the Grand Seiko. This is a wonderful watch to wear with its overall great condition, and it’s a great conversation starter with its history and background.
