Here is a fabulous, all original Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date from 1968. The golden brushed dial is in very fine condition, with a golden Rolex crown at 12 o’clock and chunky golden hour markers with the original lume dots at the outer ends. There are barely any marks on the dial itself but under magnification slight wear can be seen around the edge of the dial around 1 and 6 o’clock. The faceted baton hands are in fine condition with a few marks and some degradation to the lume. At 3 o’clock the manually set date is displayed through a cyclops window in the original plexiglass crystal. The hack feature stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to hand-setting position, allowing for accurate time setting.

The engine turned solid 18K yellow gold bezel is in fine condition with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case is in fine condition, with a circular brushed face and polished sides. It shows some wear, perhaps most notably a nick at the bottom left lug and a few marks on each case side. The original screw-down crown works as it should. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a brushed center and a few notable marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap of good quality with the original Rolex buckle in fine condition.

Inside the watch, Rolex’ high grade 1575 movement, marked as 1570 as was common, beats strongly and accurately to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in October 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

This is a fabulous watch on the wrist, and unpolished Rolex’s are exceedingly rare. This is a wonderful daily driver that will serve you well for decades to come.
