Here is a beautiful, all original Omega “Pre-Bond” Seamaster Chronometer 200m from 1989 in a very large size for the era. The black dial is in very fine condition, with a gold script Omega logo and lettering. It has a chapter ring with gold stripes per minute and yellow lume hour markers at the inner ends. There is a scatter of tiny marks around the dial, none of which are really visible to the naked eye. The Mercedes hands are in fine condition with the original lume intact, showing light wear under close scrutiny. The gold framed window at 3 o’clock shows the quick-set date. This function should only be used with the hands at the bottom half of the dial.

The rotating solid 18K yellow gold bezel is in very fine condition with a few marks of wear on the black insert, most notable at around the 30 marker. The large stainless steel case with the original crown and integrated lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, most pronounced at the case sides. The stainless steel case back is in very fine condition, with a well preserved hippocampus logo in its center and a few nicks and marks.

The original integrated steel bracelet is in fine visual condition showing a few marks and light stretching. It is big enough for large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 1111 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in November 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

This was the last Seamaster model before the James Bond franchise adopted Omega watches in 1995, kicking off a new level of excitement for the brand. Given that the first Bond Omega was a quartz watch, the Pre-Bond seems the better choice!
