Here is a stunning, all original Omega Constellation Chronometer from 1966 in a very large size for the era. The silver sunburst Pie Pan dial has taken on a fabulous patina and is in fine condition with a steel Omega logo, emblem, and Constellation star. The dial has faceted steel bar hour markers, double markers at 12 o’clock. There is a scatter of small marks around the dial, most notable around the Omega logo and a patch slightly right of below the center. The dauphine hands are in good condition with some visible corrosion, in particular on the seconds hand. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 21:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The stainless steel bezel is in good condition with some overall wear, most pronounced at around 11-12 o’clock. The stainless steel case with sharply beveled angular lugs is in good condition with some overall wear, most notably at the face of the lugs, in particular the upper lugs, but also on the sides of the case. The original crown is partially embedded in the case, making it a bit less convenient to wind by hand, but when the watch is worn regularly the automatic winding takes care of that. The stainless steel case back is in good condition with a somewhat worn steel Geneva observatory medallion and a few scratches and marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.
The watch comes on the original Omega bead of rice bracelet. It is in very fine visual condition with some stretching. It is big enough for large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.
Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 561 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in June 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
The Constellation is one of the most iconic vintage watches, and this oversized version with the hidden crown is a much beloved version. This is a watch that looks fantastic on the wrist and it will make its next owner a happy person for many years to come.
Our watches are delivered in a luxury wooden watch box, fully serviced with a 12 month warranty that covers the mechanical functioning of the watch under normal use. We offer 14 days full return rights and are very proud of our reputation for outstanding customer satisfaction.
